Removing the SCT attachment from BINTEL (GSO) 2" Diagonal

I have a BINTEL Dielectric 2" diagonal which I purchased with the SCT fitting rather than a 2" slip in nosepiece.

BINTEL mentioned that if I ever wanted to change to a 2" slip in nosepiece, I simply had to unscrew the SCT fitting & screw on a 2" nosepiece...

I've been trying to do this now for a couple of weeks... I cautiously unscrewed the base this evening to check whether there were any grub screws holding it in place but, couldn't see any...

I'd really like to avoid marring the SCT adapter part or the diagonal itself.. anyone got any tips because this thing seems screwed on so damn tight, it does not want to budge...

Thus far I have tried a rubber jar lid mat, hand towel but, no success

Thanks in advance...

Carlton,
To re-use a SCT diagonal on my ED80 and other refractors I use the 2" nose piece from an Orion 2" to T thread adaptor.
When separated (The T thread section from the chrome 2" nosepiece) it exposes an SCT (2" 24tpi) thread. Just screws straight into the SCT diagonal.
Works for me.

All good, I had to use an implement as a 'drift', minor mark on the knurled ring but, not planning on selling it so, no harm, no foul...

Anyways, managed to get it undone & screw in the 2" nosepiece...

Thanks for your suggestion Ken

Cheers
