The Moon and Jupiter

Jupiter was very close to the moon this morning. On high power I couldn't get them in the same shot, but I was able to on 48x and 96x. Took heaps of pics and still have to go through them all. Even took some landscape type ones.

That is really good and quite a collectors image. You seem to be an early riser!

That’s good. Hard to get those together and with a good exposure.

Thanks, I'm a dairy farmer and have to get up early anyway- but this morning I got up at 3 to get some observing in before milking. Was up before the moon came up and taking pics right through until it got too much daylight. Not sure how often these 2 come together but had to try and get them both in the same pic. A couple others:

I remember seeing this early this morning too, when woken up by our cat. I thought, if Jupiter was a few more degrees over, and it'd look a bit like the Turkish Flag...

One thing I noticed looking back through all the pics, was that it started a bit to one side. Then it moved across and reached maximum closeness, before moving further away again. I didn't know at the time when it would be at it's closest point.

Tried to get the moon and saturn this morning, but they were too far apart for the telescope. I could just see them both through the finderscope, so I snapped a few pics through the finderscope before clouds came in and blocked out everything. Not very spectacular, really need them to be closer together. But it was worth a try. Should have probably slept in.

Was out observing and imaging this conjunction on Wed. morning , very pretty with Mars and Saturn nearby and the Sagittarius region as a back drop. Closest approach that I estimated was about 0.25 deg ( 15' ) which is about what the images show.
Missed the Moon / Saturn conjunction due to the ever present cloud cover.

Yeah they got pretty close. Wednesday was all clouds here. Been doing some research, there's some good conjunctions coming up in March.
