Tak Imaging Train Question

Anyone using an FSQ-106ED, or in fact any other Takahashi scope, and have set their imaging train up as per the respective Photo/Visual System Chart. Is the CA-35/Wide T-Mount a stable and secure method to mount your camera?

I am interested in feedback on the CA-35/Wide T-Mount Reducer/Extender mounting methods as well...as per the System Charts.

Absolutely Hans it was perfect when I had my Tak set-up, the CA-35 is very secure and would hold my 5D and accessories with out a problem.

The beauty of the Tak stuff is that it is all screw on, much more secure than grub screws.

Hi Hans

The CA-35/Wide T Mount setup is very secure, absolutely no movement at all.

Below is the setup I used on a TSA-102, consists of the CAA, Tak Reducer/Flattener, CA-35 and Wide T Mount.

Cheers

Thanks John & Leon. From what you both describe, and thanks John for including pictures, the entire imaging train shouble be screw in connections. The System Schematics for the FSQ-106ED show press fit/grub screw connection which was confusing but John's photo's of his setup with the CA-35/Wide T-Mount shows otherwise.

Hi Hans

Just had a look at the System Chart, the CA-35 shown there is the CA-35 (50.8) which is different again, it is a slide in fit and the Wide T Mount screws into the end.

I am about to receive an FSQ-106ED myself and was going to use screwin 72mm adapters and attach the normal CA-35 to them and then attach the Wide T Mount, the System Chart can get very confusing. I also believe that you can get a Prime Focus Ring which extends the focuser out even further.

Looking at the System Chart it looks like you need the Prime Focus Ring (FSQ-106ED), then attach Part No.8 which comes with the scope, then the CA-35 and Wide T Mount for the screwin fitting to work at Prime Focus.

Cheers

PS: Just added a photo of both the CA-35's, left the CA-35 (50.8) with Wide T mount attached, right, the normal CA-35

Hi Hans,

I am not doing much astrophotographic work as I use my mewlon 300 primarily for visual but I do dabble a little with my current Canon.

The Tak gear is very solid visual train for attaching the Canon as it is all securely screwed together.

I have 2 options:

Prime Focus <-----> FL/RD <-----> Wide T Mount <-----> Canon

and

Prime Focus <-----> 50.8 Sleeve Adaptor <-----> Wide T Mount <-----> Canon

Check out the quick pics below (apologies for the poor quality they were done with my i-phone).

Cheers

Thanks Phil..this further reinforces that the CA-35/Wide T-Mount is the way to go.

I've got what he's got (except an FS-102) - "does what it says on the tin"!
