Canon full frame low light CMOS sensor

This could definitely hold promise for astro work:

I hope in the near future all DSLR's are like that.

There were fireflies just like that at my sister's place one night. I tried to get video with my Mintron frame integration video camera. I got them, but the slow shutter showed them as streaks. Would have loved to get full motion HD colour video like the above Canon.

At only 1080p on a full 35mm sensor it would want to capture some light with the size of the light buckets lol. Its great news though i can only see it being used in a very expensive hd cam, which still would rock hard for planetary work for sure and even video astronomy Only bad thing is i could not see cannon building an astro dslr with the sensor because it would not make them any money, though maybe an outside group could pick it up for an imager Lol If they come up at a far enough price i'am going video obs for sure.

19 micron pixels = sounds perfect for long focal length scopes, f/10 ... f/15. On an f/5 lightbucket it will be under sampling as the pixels will be bigger than star images.

Now we sit and wait to see which manufacturer puts this into an imaging head.
