Hi Karl,

Good to have those filters for planetary so I'm told but if you're after filters for DSOs you'll need a UHC/LP filter. A quick search will show you that the prices are astronomical by comparison. ( pun intended ) expect to pay $200 upwards for one filter as a base line price. Hence why they quickly fell down my " must have list "

Personally I find those coloured planetary filters (particularly the very intensely coloured ones) make the image so unnatural that it's almost unviewable. I've got about 6-8 of them and they never get used. A decent narrowband/nebula filter, however, is something that I would have near the top of my Santa list - there are a lot more objects on which one of these filters will be useful. As mentioned, you can expect to pay a decent amount for a good one, but it should last you a long time and get a lot of use.
