Meade LX200 10-inch & Accessories

I have decided to change tack in my astronomical pursuits. In order to fund my change, I need to basically offload and start anew.

So, I am selling my beloved LX200 10-inch ACF scope and all accessories, as listed below.

I won't be splitting right now, and would prefer to sell it all as one lot.

  • LX200 ACF 10-inch Telescope, comes with Standard Meade Field Tripod for this model. Bought new late in 2010, delivered by Bintel early 2011. Comes with all of the standard fruit, such as stock 8x50 Finderscope, Hand Controller. Focuser has been upgraded to a Feathertouch, and works perfectly.
  • Mitty Evolution Wedge - Required for any long exposure imaging. Purchased from @Unipol
  • JMI Case - This was actually for a C11 originally, but the LX200 fits inside with forks and all, no issues. Purchased from IIS Classsifieds
  • Orion Dewshield
  • Nexus-S Wifi Controller and required cables
  • GP-USB Autoguider interface - Purchased from @jjjnettie
  • 4-Port Dew Controller - Custom made by @ArthurAlchin
  • Dew Straps - 1 Kendrick 10-inch, and 2 homemade for finder and eyepiece
  • 8m, 12v Power supply for LX200 - Plugs into cigarette lighter plug
  • Meade genuine counterweights - 1kg, 2kg, 3kg. Connect directly to underside of OTA
  • Meade Off-Axis Guider body.
  • Antares F/6.3 Focal reducer
  • 2-inch Canon T-Adapter
  • Meade Piggyback bracket for camera, with necessary screws. New, unused
  • 10-inch Bahtinov Mask
  • Simple Planisphere
  • Analog Protractor
  • Bintel 1..25" Moon Filter
  • #21 1.25" Orange FIlter
  • #47 1.25" Blue Filter
  • #8 1.25" Yellow Filter
  • 1.25" Adaptor (for the back of the scope)
  • 1.25" Diagonal
  • 9.5mm illuminated reticle - 1.25"
  • 26mm Meade 1.25" Super Plossl Eyepiece
  • 2" Adaptor (for the back of the scope)
  • 2" Diagonal
  • Bob's Knobs fitted to Secondary - never needed collimation since they were fitted in 2011
  • Buck's Gears update - not performed, but have purchased and is ready to install
  • Homemade Lightbox - powered by dew controller
  • Televue Ethos 10mm - fits 1.25" + 2" diagonals
  • Televue Ethos 21mm - 2"
  • Televue Panoptic 41mm - 2". The Holy Hand Grenade
The Televue eyepieces, along with the 2-inch accessories and hand controller, also come in an aluminium hard case.

The 1.25" accessories and the illuminated reticle also have their own smaller hard case.

I'm sure there may be a couple of other bits and pieces around, I just can't think of them at the moment.

Asking $6000.

Collect from 2259. Shipping can be arranged at cost by TNT. It takes up a pallet in it's downtime.

PMs please.

Bump.

In a couple of weeks I will have to withdraw if not sold, as I am off overseas for a couple of months.

Still not separating, though...

Shane - what's the new astronomical direction you are thinking of heading in?

That's a great deal you have going there by the way. My first scope was an LX200 and it was fantastic. Loved it, and it made be an enthusiast for life because objects was just so easy to locate and enjoy from a seated position.

Hi Rod,

Sorry I missed your post. Been out fly fishing at Jindabyne. No fish though, still too warm, and the trout are staying down deep.

I want to get into more of a pure astrophotography setup. The Meade is brilliant for visual, being F/10, and having the Goto function is so handy, especially coming in as a novice, as I did.

Also, as I get older, the weight is heavier than it was a year ago. I'm just glad I didn't go for the 12-inch, as I was going to.

But as with the Mary Rose in your case, the old has to go, to make way for the new.

I estimate that there is about $12-13k of stuff here, if someone was to buy it all new. Easily into 5-figures, anyway.

Thanks for the update Shane. It will be fascinating to see your astrophotography progress over time. Again - the LX200 is superb, that package of gear for the price is insanely good.
