Another Observatory but 1 storey up.

I am at the new place at Tabulam trying to make plans.
Apart from the house is a very sturdy shack over a shipping container.
Its got a new 500 amp 12 vlt system, near water but no connection.one room sink power points .. Needs a ceiling but super cool ..the guy who built it was the master of overkill...strong as.
But this is probably where I will live when I leave Sydney.
I am thinking a deck with a dome but 1 storey up.
Crazy but could it work?

Need pix, .... but I'd be looking into it. As the sole occupier ( I presume ) you could minimise vibration during use. A shipping container is pretty solid to begin with.
500amp 12 volt ?? ..... 500 watt ?
You could weld ship hulls with 500 amps

Sorry 500 amp hour battery.
The idea is going down in flames...my daughter says it will scare the horses, it is near where she wants to place the "round pen".
But I have decided it will work, as you say just me there...short exposures ...whatever disadvantage the main thing would be it would be so close it would get used a lot...one in the first spot that I pickef out and posted a photo is a short drive...and I really needed a van there...being trapped in Sydney has me all over the place...
I.will try and post a photo ...

Hi Alex,

The best XYZ is the one you use, .... more often .......even better! BTW I was on the roof last night (cleaning out the gutters, in readiness for the stormy weather) and thinking along similar lines... Now what could I put here?

Best

Where the rails are in middle photo ...I would take them out and put up a steel frame for the on.

The first photo is a horse.
The last photo is inside pre update.

Why would an Ob scare a horse ? Ludicrous ! Go for it. You have some work to do though.

I can't answer why but even if her ideas are flawed I will respect her wishes.
But I am not getting into any discussion until I am ready to move up here.
Anyways I still have the other place which is darker and it already has the pier..it had a shed over it but someone took it.
And visiting here may be better than living here.
Also another idea is just get a camper van and find someplace dry and dark and winter there...

Look at the RODALCO2007 Youtube channel. Real fun with high currents !
He has a complete Electronics Destruction and Torture Lab in his home. I visited him last year, it was real fun. He is a nice guy, works as an electricity engineer and that is his hobby as well.

Had the same situation myself last week. Mind is going overboard thinking of a steel frame deck arrangement screwed down onto the roof. We live in a 2 story ex-Army house (Hardwood frame, no pine here thankyou). My back yard makes for sad viewing with the house and the nieghbour's 3 story tall mango tree

Just need to find a safe way to get myself and the C6 OTA on the roof each night...

What a legend. Last time I fed a horse, she ate the slice of bread, then the rest of the loaf, then the bag. I was horrified, thinking I'd killed her. That was 30 yrs... still remember clearly
