Orion starshoot

A question and probably a dumb one. I am looking at buying an Orion Starshoot autoguider, this is where the dumb qustion starts in everything I have read it doesn't answer the question "when autoguiding is it still possible to use the camera for imaging or is a seperate camera needed?

Hi Adrian.
You can use it as an autoguider or as an imager, but not both.
So you will need an seperate camera either way.

Thanks for that. I had sent emails to 2 of the businesses that advertise on this site but no one answered in the last week. I have sent for an interface from the states so I will probably just use the webcam for guiding and the 350D for imaging.

a quick note, the Orion autoguider is exactly the same as the QHY5 all except for the firmware and drivers. The QHY5's drivers are better supported in many guiding programs and the QHY5 is cheaper...

Do yourself a favour..
