Astro Forensics required...

Who wants a crack at forensics?

WTF is this? Turned up when I started shooting flats sat evening.
Restarted the laptop, camera & program several times but it wouldn't go away.

Finally in desperation, I removed the camera from the 'scope, removed all leads, re-connected everything, restarted everything and bingo - happy days, no more stripes.

Camera was cooling down during this, could that affect the flat like this?

weird...

Definitely shouldn't be cooling doing that.

Maybe USB problem?

forensics

I while a go had lots of lines on images- it was EM disturbance from a power cable near the USB cable. If it went away when you unplugged and replugged maybe you moved the power cable away from the USB?
just a thought

I've had this issue once with a QHY8. The cable pins weren't connected properly and the TEC wasn't cooling. So you'll get those stripes when the sensor is close to ambient.

This is a QSI683, right Andy? Check out the QSI Yahoo group - there has been discussion on this problem.

Or maybe a combination of both? It showed up once before - co-incidentally when I was cooling the cam and shooting flats - but it went away quickly last time - maybe as the ambient temp was higher last weekend it took longer to stabilize the cam? Some other folks here have also raised some interesting USB options.

Couls be, I usually use a powered USB hub. I removed it as well during the diagnostics and chose not to use it after that when the cam was working again

...and there you go! So it could well be cooling related Time to drag it out and do a few more tests methinks.
