Rokinon 85mm f1.4

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...rokinon%2085mm

Anyone tried this lens?
Got rave reviews by amateurs in the UK.
I'm looking at it for objective spectroscopy with a full modded Canon 1000D

I have the same lens and the first one had trouble, returned it and the 2nd one is brilliant.

Good lens, but I'd buy it locally in case you get a dud.

Mine was the Nikon version though.

I don't have 85mm F1.4 but have 24mm F1.4.

My experience is the same. First one was dud. Left side of image stars were in focus right side they were out of focus. I sent it back and after a bit of to and fro it was replaced and the replacement is good.

I find it is slightly better than my Nikon 24-70 F2.8 pro lens at 24mm which is saying a lot because that lens is superb.

Coma and chromatic aberration though disappear at F2 and above so for your intended use, assuming the 85mm is similar, it really is only an F2 lens. F1.4 would be fine for terrestial images though.

Greg.
