No viewing for five months

I doubt anyone will believe me but it has been impossible to view in Wales (UK) for five months, and the prospect for the next three weeks is rain and clouds.

By the way my heartfelt deepest sympathy for ALL in Australia especially the wildlife that we hear little about in the UK

Hi Jeremy,
Just as l write we are getting some much needed rain in Melbourne. Hopefully it continues and is widespread enough to help quell the fires.

And BTW welcome back.

Best

It made an attempt at raining here last night but barely wet the concrete. I can't imaging anyone here complaining about three weeks of rain. Even though it's not raining we can't observe now anyway. I haven't seen a blue sky since November, the Sun and Moon are either obscured by smoke or dull red and the whole world is tinted sepia. Jeremy, if you can figure out how to export your rain you'll be sooooo rich. [BTW we are exporting our smoke to NZ and soon to South America. Though I'm not too sure the Kiwi's enjoy having their glaciers turn brown.]

Jeremy, check out the forecast for Cymru for this weekend! You might want to get your scope ready.

Jeremy I hope the fires here have not put you off and still encourage you to move to Australia
Whatever you want is double here.

I also think this is a good idea. The UK (and entire NW Europe including the Netherlands where I live) is one of the worst places for astronomy.

That is one of the reasons I make another four weeks trip to Australia next month and bring my 11cm ED scope.
