Here's another one. I'd really appreciate some comments. This is nearly 4 hours on an 8" F5 newt with ASI071 camera, with a UHC filter. Processed in PI.
Things I'm worried about:
1. the colour. Its more brown all over. Is that my UHC filter, but I used the photometric colour which I thought would remove filter colour biasing.
2. the dust lane really doesn't come out that well. Compare it to doppler's in this section, and Slawomir's over on the pro section. Their one really pop out And they had much shorter total exposures.
For processing I've basically just TGV denoised, stretched. Then boosted the colour in the galaxy and dropped the background. And local histogram equalisation (which helped the dust lane a bit).
What should I be doing to bring out the dust lane detail/contrast more without clobbering the 'glow' emanating from the galaxy?? Deconvolving, or multiscalelinear transforming?
Or is that all I can expect - my guiding had RMS errors of 0.8"ish on the good night and 1.3" on not so good.
Thats excellent Chris.
If you are bored crop it down so only the gallaxy is in the frame the upsize that as high as it will go and adjust that image even drawing in the detail...well what is photo shop for?
Just keep getting more data but really you have a great omage in my opinion.
