Raynox 250

Hi all
I was just browsing & I came across this : http://dvdreamtime.com.au/raynox-dcr...ns-p-1445.html
they claim it gives razor sharp images similar to Macro lenses

does anyone own one of these or maybe tried one
I'd be interested if they are what they are cracked up to be

Any comments?

Cheers
Bryan

Spider warning

Bryan,
I have the Raynox DCR-150. It's very good. Allows you to do macro with just about any lens that it fits. Been using it with my superzoom (FZ-50) and a 70-300 zoom on my Canon 20D. I think the 250 is equivalent to an +8 diopter and the 150 about half that. For a superzoom its great, much better than the diopter rings and just snaps on the front. Probably not as good as a dedicated macro lens on a DSLR (I don't have one) but it doesn't cost as much either.

Here are some examples with the superzoom.

For some reason it wouldn't show the DSLR examples in the last post.

Here are some examples from the 20D with a Tamron 70-300 lens using the Raynox 150.

spiders are OK

Thanks TM

Nice shots, it looks like it performs well
I have a 40D with a 17-85 zoom lens
do you think it would still work well in front of this lens?

Hi Bryan,
You'll get vignetting at 17mm but it should work at 85mm. I also have a 18-55mm kit lens. Here are some examples with the DCR-150 at 18mm, 55mm, 70mm and 300mm. The greater the zoom the bigger it is. There is a caveat however, these examples are from the DCR-150, the DCR-250 will take you closer again You'd best try it at a camera shop before you buy. When you try it, use the flash and turn off the autofocus - moving the camera back and forth to achieve focus works the best.
