Recently spent a few nights in Paris. This was the view from the apartment we stayed in.

On our travels around the streets we found a very well equipped astro shop with Tak, Televue and various other gear.

I wonder how much gear they sell to the local market?

They have an impressive light show on the tower for 5 minutes each hour. You'd just have to add an event in your imaging schedule to pause for that!

Yes the bond would be much stronger if I had a baby Tak to remind me of the experience but alas.....maybe next time.

Thanks for the shots Peter.

Charles Messier did most of his observations from downtown Paris at
what is now the Musée national du Moyen Âge.

Judging by your photos, old Chuck would probably struggle to find
terribly much if observing under those same Paris night skies today.

Never mind the sky. Just looking up would be enough time for someone to steal the scope.

That's quite a coincidence, Gary. We spent a while in Jardin médiéval du Musée de Cluny one afternoon. That garden is right next door to Musée national du Moyen Âge. Turns out we were sitting within the same block of his observing site!

I didn't get any images in the park but did take some closer to the Pantheon which is quite close by. He would be disappointed with the sky view these days however the city views might make up for that.
