After many years of faithful operation I have finally upgraded my Equatorial mount. As a result my EQ5 GOTO Equatorial mount is now up for grabs
The EQ5 GOTO mount is a very capable Equatorial mount and I've been able to get over 3min subs unguided w/ my 900mm focal length doublet refractor! The key to good tracking is to keep everything light.
Pointing accuracy is alright (I adjusted out most of the backlash) On a good night I can get objects centered with relatively high magnification. I mostly use platesolving to center objects now so I tend to forget about pointing accuracy.
The Synscan hand controller is the new style and I have updated the firmware recently (should be latest)
Mount specs:
Payload: 10kg
Tripod Height: 71-123cm
Tripod Weight: 15kg
Pointing Accuracy: up to 5 arc. min.
Slewing Speed: up to 3.4°/sec (800X)
What's included:
- Stainless steel tripod
- EQ5 GOTO Mount
- 2 x 5.1kg Counterweights (the plastic knob came off on one of the counterweights)
- Synscan hand controller
- All the cables and misc parts (the stuff you'd get if you bought it new)
- Bonus I'll also through in a USB hub I made up that also acts as an EQDir cable (lets you control mount from PC/Mac)
The current price listed on
Skywatcher Australia is $1,399.00 AUD
I'm offering mine for $500 AUD
Pickup prefered, postage at buyers expense (I only have a box for the tripod left so everything else would need to be repackaged)
If you're just starting out (and local) I can show you how to setup the mount / get everything working etc...
Cheers,
Jameson
