First weekend out for months

I took myself out on Sunday night to take advantage of the eased restrictions and clear skies at Yarra Glen in Victoria. It's only about half an hour's drive from home and the skies are a lot darker. Fog was drifting in and continuous traffic heading home to Melbourne from Healsville lit up the horizon. Lights from a nearby supermarket illuminated the wetlands as the Milky Way rose in the south east.

That is stunning mick.....good enough to frame.

Obviously you’ve been planning that shot for a while!

Well done, love it, foreground lit up perfectly and well balanced to the sky

Thanks Jon, I wouldn't say I'd planned the shot for a while, maybe for 4 hrs. My wife and I had a walk around the wetlands earlier in the day because it was such a beautiful day. I said to her this would make a really nice nightscape photo if I came back later tonight and took the Milky Way rising, so I did! The artificial lights actually helped compose the shot better than I expected.

Thanks JA, I tried to make it look as close to what I saw visually so I held back on the saturation to maintain the mood.

A really nice landscape. A nice blend of Milky Way and foreground which is a hard part of nightscape processing.

Good composition. Finding a good spot is 75% of the problem with these nightscapes.

Greg.
