Today the last of my new camera setup arrived, i am sure we will now have 2 months of rain and clouds, i am setup now and just waiting now for the clouds to go away.
ZWO ASI071MC pro
ZWO ASI120MM-S
ZWO ASIair pro
ZWO filter draw
I am thinking of adding an optolong L enhance or optolong L pro filter soon, still researching it for now
First night with new setup started good with clear sky, sadly just as i focused the system ready to image the clouds moved in and light rain forced me to pack up scope, maybe tomorrow night will be better.
Greg, Super Cheap Auto and Bunnings has the conduit i used.
I like to try and keep cables neat and tidy, many years ago i saw an imager trip over the mount and camera cables and do quite a bit of damage, what a nightmare.
Hi David, the imaging train is just a little too long to pass between the forks, however it does allow me to image to 78 to 85 degrees (78 at scope control panel side and 85 the rest). When imaging i set the scope upper limit in the autostar controller.
I only lose 5 to 12 degrees of sky for imaging, however i use a field de-rotator at the moment and it does not go well at 85 to 90 degrees anyway.
To shorten the image train i made a few mods, the Petersons focuser upgrade allows smooth focus and locking of mirror so i could remove the motor focus and still have precise focus then i removed the derotator sct thread on telescope side to allow the derotator to slide into the 2 inch adapter at back of scope, then the standard 105mm from reducer to camera chip includes OAG and filter drawer.
Good to see a 12" Meade Lx200 being put to great use.
I ended up cutting the Heavy duty tripod down, adding a re-built and fettled heavy duty edge to give me the coverage/ control I needed for spectroscopy.
Looking at it's temped me back towards thinking about imaging for the first time in 10ish years. If every camera I looked at on the Zwo site wasn't "available on backorder" I think I'd've bitten the bullet just now.
