Kendrick Dew heater

I just bought a Kendrick Dew heater strip. I plan to have it connectef directly to a 12V battery. Has anyone else done this! This obviously means the heater is on 100% of the time. It feels like it gets pretty hot to me. Any experience here or should I spend the close to $200 for a controller?

I have the dials set very low on my heater controller. It seems very little heat is needed to keep optics clear so it might be best to buy a controller.

I have an old Kendrick Model VI that only works at full voltage (no LED shows) It worked OK and the strips did not get too hot.

Probably could be repaired or modified

It is yours for $15 postage or free if you pick up.
