AFP: Another "Fun" Pier

Got sick of tripod, leveling and alignment etc, so decided to dig a hole and put up a pier.
Footing was 450x450x600 mm, 12 bags of premix concrete.
Pier is made of 100x100 mm SHS steel, reinforced with gussets, fixed to a 400x400 mm concrete pad with 4x12 mm threaded rods cast into the footing.
SWMBO is in for a surprise....

Good idea Brent. I have a bronze sun dial, it will fit perfectly.

Err, no. A 3 meter dome will take out 99% of my backyard. A mate of mine is looking for a rural property for a tree change. We made a deal he will reserve a nice spot for me to run a remote ob, so that will be a better project...
