Something just burned up East of Sydney

I just saw what looked like a huge white firework, but heading down, and miles out to sea, East of Sydney. I guess it could have been a flare, because part of my view is blocked, so I might not have seen it going up. But it wasn't a steady light, it was heading down, fast, and split into what looked like sparks. I think it burnt up about 6 degrees off horizontal. It only lasted about a second.

Does anyone know of anything that was scheduled to re-enter tonight? or any meteor activity?

I saw that last night while walking the dog... I thought it was a meteorite but then thought it was so huge and white, it must have been a flare or firework near the beach...
