Observing site

Dear members, I live in Darwin (12deg south). With restricted views in an urban location, is there a "must have" or ideal direction or horizon?
Cheers for the help, as ever.

As you head further south, unrestricted views of the northern horizon become more important.

Where you are at that latitude reasonable views north and south would be helpful. I figure east and west are less important.

Thanks Allan, that's what I figured.....a downer, as it's hard enough getting one good direction from suburbia.

The southern sky has more and better targets than the north, I'd suggest a preference for that direction. If you are mobile then maybe you can find a couple of handy sites with options for either.
