MACRO LENS info needed

HI

I am going to pick up a pre loved lens in the next couple of weeks,The vendor also has a Canon EF-S 60mm F 2.8 macro lens,I was asked if I was interested,it has hood a filter,UV I think, all for $400.

I had a look on FM,this little lens gets high praise!,only a small working distance of 9 cm for grubs, insects, flys etc.which would be my main reason for such a lens.Really gets good praise for potrait, landscape photography.

So.given there are many macro afficionardos on this site, whats your verdict-is $400 to much? (I am meeting vendor, and will handle other lens, befor purchase,so to this one, before any transaction),so I can take my time.

I noticed, that many on FM paid aroud $400,(obviously US prices).but given its second hand, may be $400 is too much.

May be it would be better to wait and get the 100 mm version.

advice needed.thank you

cheers Chris
