Lunar Vistas in Sydney for July

Conditions were ordinary for DSO imaging so I captured my usual Lunar Vistas on an 80% waxing moon using my 6” f6 Bintel GSO newt , EQ6-R Mount and Canon 600D
ISO 800
1200 AVI frames
Stacked in Autostakkert 3
Processed in Registax 6
Wide field just using a T ring adapter
2 x Televue Powermate
2.5 x Televue Powermate
4 x Televue Powermate
5 x Televue Powermate
Lunar terrain images captured using a 5 x Televue Powermate at 5 x zoom ( 1:1 pixel resolution)
Moon was just passing the meridian during capture at 65 to 70 degrees altitude
Atmospheric conditions were ordinary with a visible halo around the moon due to high moisture content and heavy dew. My Kendrick dew heaters did a great job of keeping the all the optics dry

Nice work Martin..do you know that you can add a Barlow on a barlow on a barlow...you have 13.5 x available magnification if you want to have some fun..I would photograph ants thru a 1200 mm fl refractor with two 3x and a 2x Barlow on very small Meade LPI chip...at about 100 feet I had two ants in the field of view...

Great collection of lunar images. It's good to see the different magnification/power combos.

Thanks LIS and John
My old 6” newt and old DSLR is a great combo for Lunar and Planetary work
It’s challenging changing over all those Powermates and adapters during a Lunar imaging session , especially when you have to remove the DSLR from the focuser still tethered with power and data cables in one hand and screw in all those heavy Powermates and adapters whilst the mounts still tracking. It’s a real juggling act but sometimes it’s a welcome change from long exposure AP imaging DSO’s etc
The Lunar terrain images turned out much better than expected. It really is “lucky imaging” at that resolution
Thanks again
