the eye of god?

i've heard the Helix referred to as the eye of god and you can see why, it sure looks like an eye complete with star pupil... this is a mix of exposures from 3 nights this last week with the new cam grabbed between clouds, mount failures and the usual other joys of astrophotography ;-)

First one is an 100% crop the other at 67%.

it's still quite faint but looks like I've managed to tease a little of the "eyebrow" out as well.

I suspect to do this justice really needs a bit more focal length and aperture, and a good few more hours of lights, but with clouds and rain for next two weeks is likely going to look better each night ;-)

Robert,
Lovely Helix you’ve captured
Not an easy target
To expose some eyebrow means your right on the money with sub length , gain quantity of data and processing
Well done !!

thanks all for the kind words. When the weather clears again here I'll be adding to this ... actually with my narrow backyard sky window, there's not much else nebula wise (between scorpio sinking in the west and Orion not rising above my neighbours trees till 1am) to actually capture at the moment :-)

Great pic Robert! The "eyebrow" is there! Did you use the L-Enhancer?

Yes Optolong L enhance for this one. I have the L extreme on backorder as well and will add using that if and when it comes.
