Astro equipment dealers ?

Greetings all ,

Who would you recommend in Australia to buy astronomy related stuff from ?

I'm not looking for the cheapest price but good service & a dealer who goes to the trouble to at least check what they sell Works

Cheers
Bobby

Have had good service from all the dealers that I've bought stuff from over the years. They include Andrews Com , Bintel , Telescopes & Astronomy , My AstroShop , Astronomy & Electronics Centre and a few others no doubt. Can recommend all of them.

If it helps I can recommend both Bintel and Andrews ..each have been exceptional in my dealings with each.
But then they are the only folk in the business that I deal with.

Here in Brisbane, Astro Anarchy.
Pete, who runs the business, puts quality of service first and foremost.

Two other excellent Australian astro businesses:

Astro Shop, only authorized Vixen seller in Oz. Online only.

Sirius Optics, regularly hosts viewing sessions at their store.

Both are in Queensland and great to deal with.

Note, Steve Massey from Astro Shop and I are not related.

I don't prefer one over the other, it all depends who has what I want at the time at a better or reasonable price.

I would like to take this opportunity to 2nd Jenifur's comment on Astro Anarky.

Around Jan this year, I ventured into his shop after a long work roadtrip (from Townsville to Brisbane). I pointed out that I was quite adverse to afterpay, etc, and by the way, I had no money. Rather than fob me off, Pete entertained an old fashioned layby. Despite the extra work on his part, I was afforded a good discount too.

7 months later, I took delivery of a shiny new AZEQ6. I used it for 1 night happily. Last week, doing some indoor set up, it dropped dead.

I called Pete and explained the story. The next afternoon, express posted to Townsville, arrived a new motor control board. I swapped them over, and all is well. I'll send the old board back on Monday. Thanks to this service, I was able to deliver an Astro night for the local Girl Guides camp.

Astro Anarchy website is well laid out, though static in design (unlike usual shoppingcart sites). Be aware, they can get more than what is shown - just email and ask.

I am very happy I dropped in to see them in January.

I have bought from all the above , often many times and have to say overall its always been positive .

Gary from wildcard I'd like to give a big rap to never met him , but for advice and support , sending me a new screen cover for my argo unit

it must be one of the older ones still working flawlessly , I stupidly scratched the screen trying to remove a mark and added many more, just mailed it , no cost we are so lucky to have such genuine people .

Peter Read , Peter is approachable for atm advice and did send me some very nice ply and another option for my uta rebuild again very genuine .

We are all so lucky to have these types about

It’s somewhat irrelevant whether they’re in Aus or not... APM and Teleskop-Service are both well worth checking especially for bits & pieces.

There's a new astro retailer that is well worth a look:

AstroDog.

A husband and wife team, Marcel and Nadine.

Deals mainly with accessories than marketing loads and load of differnt scopes. I've already made a purchase from them too

Alex.

The obvious question is:
What are you wanting to Buy??

If you're after explore scientific stuff I suggest Sylvain at their EBay store. I recently bought an ED102 FCD100 scope from there and couldn't be happier with the service. Especially since ES stuff is hard to get in Australia!
