Orion 0.8x Reducer question

Again, I'm looking at options for correctors for my new ED72 and looking for cheaper alternatives to the dedicated flattener. I see that theres an Orion 0.8x reducer AND a Orion flattener. I've heard that the 0.8x reducer also flattens as well but wondering if it flattens the whole field with a full frame dslr. Also, will the clear aperture of 38mm be enough to not vignette with a 35mm sensor?

Hi Tony.
A clear aperture of 38mm would heavily vignette a full frame chip, considering it's diagonal length is 43mm... and based on that, I highly doubt the flattener would flatten the whole field as well.
