The add says two available and one sold... no doubt however not the only ones in existence.
Gather statistics as to how many injuries their units have caused and refer those to your Dept of Health and the minister responsible for that portfolio and send copies of that letter to all other ministers and ask for their comment. Zend copies of all correspondence to ebay pointing out they could be joined as a party in any future legal proceedings brought by persons harmed by using the product.
Print pamphlets and hand them out at places with high human pedestrian traffic. Send details of your champaign to leading tv talk shows and radio stations.
Get back to me tomorrow for the next steps.

Good luck.
Alex

Best of luck! My experience dealing with ebay over a shonky seller is that they say lots of nice things but do nothing about it.

Many of us have previously contacted the suppliers and eBay pointing out that these are dangerous and should be banned.
It doesn’t seem to stop them being sold.......

You would need some hard evidence with the numbers of people who have lost the use of their sight with these filters. Otherwise no action will be taken.

I've seen back-yarders doing arc welding without a protective helmet and they don't give a damn, even when you tell them how dangerous it is to their eyes. "She'll be right mate"

Most people would not know what a telescope was probably.
This vendor needs to find a stupid astronomer...what are the chances of that☺.
One could probably make a case for the banning of guns...the banning of cars and motor bikes that can do three times a legal speed ... one must learn to be apathetic and look at such things as part of Darwins wonderful plan to see the survival of the fittest.

zero chance of changing ebay, they make money both ways from complaints and disputes etc. you need to change the law and if you try that you'll get some dip**** politician banning all telescopes completely.

You could try selling real safe ones at a better price, create a better market they cant compete in.... hmmm, crickets I hear there..

Get every person you know to buy one. Once you buy one, you get an opportunity to log feedback on the product/seller.

With adequate safeguards in place, place the product in your scope, and let it run under full sunlight until it cracks.

Post photos in Ebay complaints, and give 0-1 stars in your review, with statements including keywords such as "my eyes!!", "My 4yr old", My "Neightbour's cat", "Current Affairs show", "local MP", "Lawyer", etc

Manufacture a tragedy they can't sweep under the carpet . The seller cares about nothing but their rating. Ebay cares about nothing but staying out of the news. Deny them both their wish.

Whether one agrees with the actual examples or not, there are many precedents of items Ebay have banned from sale.

Buy one, and write a terrible review to warn others of the danger. But they'll probably relist them again..

I remember back in the seventies these were included with a moon filter when buying many basic astro telescopes .

I used one on a 60mm refractor to see sun spots & noticed it got super hot real quick !
I was lucky I only had a quick look .

Who ever is still selling these needs to be zapped

It's listed as out of stock now, that's concerning.
