My first 10" Dob I bought from Andrew's. It was a GSO, I loved it. The optics were great and the price was right.

I purchased my Sky Watcher Dobsonian through Sirius Optics. Ron listened to what I was after and gave some excellent advice.

Tip top service and the pricing was competitive.

Bintel are GSO dobs - just with Bintel stickers on them.

GSO ASDX 10" Dob comes with 2 x eyepieces (9mm & 25mm with 1.25" barrels) $649

Bintel BT252 10" Dob comes with 3 x eyepieces (9mm and 15mm 1.25" barrel) and a 26mm wide view eyepiece (2" barrel) I get the most use from my 26mm wide view! $699

The Skywatcher SW880 10" Dob is $795 ??

Both of these have more improved side bearing brake mechanism compared to the Skywatcher 10" pictured in the Sirius website.

Don't be so quick to poo poo the sky watcher collapsible dobs. I have the 12 inch and it compresses down quite nicely for it to fit in the boot of my honda civic. If space is an issue then your better off spending the little bit extra and getting the collapsible dob. if i had the solid tube i would never be able to go anywhere and do any viewing other than in the back yard as it would not physically fit in my car.

16 inches of sky watcher goodness

I have a 16 inch Sky Watcher collapsable Go-To. For under three grand it is simply awesome, but not recommended for small cars. I can get it in my station wagon. In under 5 minutes a single person can break down, move and reassemble the base but the OTA needs a strong hand as it is 34kg and awkward. I can just move it myself and I'm 6ft, reasonably unfit and 40.

I couldn't be happier with the 16 inch bought a couple weeks ago from BTOW in Perth- at the time cheaper than anywhere else in the country, though your mileage may vary with shipping! If you need any thoughts on assembly or whatever PM me.

This is a link to an old thread. Post #10 gives dimensions for my Sky Watcher Collapsible 12" Dob. I know this does not answer your question, but it might give you a rough idea of the dimensions involved.

Thanks for that usefull information Stephen,
Its not too late for me yet, but it would have saved me 3 hours research if I had found it earlier.
