bioluminescent fungi

Have seen StephenM capturing a bit of this lately in Brisbane. Thought I'd wander down the local creek and see if I could find some. Could only find one that was bioluminescent - I understand that they only do so for a brief period (48-72hrs?). So while there was other fungi in the area, this was the only one I could find glowing. Not the best image, but might keep a look out for more.

Even though it's green I wouldn't eat that. Looks like simpsonite.

Pretty good shot for a 10 sec exposure Troy, I bet it was nice not having to polar align and auto guide!

Such a relatively short window of opportunity - is this a seasonal event?

Cheers

Dennis

Thanks guys. It’s not the best shot. Will try to do better next time.

Marc - maybe hit it with a disengage of SCNR first?
Dennis - not sure if seasonal. I took a punt because of all the recent rain and had seen a few others posting pics from other Brissy locations (Mt Coot-tha). Stephen Mudge knows a lot about them. Maybe ask him?
Rick - Tak green?

most of them are seasonal and some years have a short window, here is a fairly new Omphalotus nidiformis these are 3x15 min exposure f16 with a macro lens stacked in deep sky stacker

Might be a bit late off the mark, don't travel down here too often but...

Troy very good.

Brad, your image of the fungi is the most incredible image I have ever seen!

You are both very clever
