Lagoon finished

Ok, this is most likely to the tastes of some and not to others. I followed some of Adam Blocks tutorials in photoshop and did a 30% Ha blend on top of a LRGB. So now effectively this is a HaLRGB.

Controlling the pink has been tough and still not 100% to my liking. I think I have the star colours right and the outer nebulosity is more magenta but maybe not as it should be. The blue is really there. No matter how much I reduced the saturation in this colour it just stays there.

This image is also half the size of the original. There is the odd dark ring around a star, particularly in the darker areas, but I just don't have this skill at present to control this or come across something that will work 100% I do think I have the halos pretty much as good as I can get it.

I can say I am happy with the image, but I invite anyone to let me know anything you think is not correct. It might not mean I will fix the problem but I like to see what people are thinking as being distracting. So Peter and Mikie S (I know it probably looks plastic still but I tried mate I really did) feel free to let me know what is wrong with the image.

The image is very large and around 3.2meg, so if you are on dial up I am sorry.

Finally, I just want to say thanks to all that contributed to the advice in the previous threads. I promise this is the last time I will post this image. Well maybe this year.

Beautiful Paul. It is definitely pink, as you mention, but it doesn't detract from the result. Looks great - top effort.

I have plenty of Ha data on M8 as well, so thanks for the inspiration - I'll dig up my old colour M8's and play.

Good...well done, Paul

Good colour, plenty of detail and the stars look pinpoint to the edge.

Well done Paul, This is a striking picture. Might be worth just a slight tweak to the highlights in shadows and highlights to tone down the core a little more. All up you have to be pleased with this one. Taken a while but I think you have nailled it.
Well done.

I feel like a beginner again! The level of skill and professional looking shots I have seen you posting mate, is WAY ahead of me now.

I even like the colour...I'll take two!

Baz.

Took me months to perfect my ultra deep Cen A back in 08 and the rest is history , so I know what's involved here, well done Paulie, deffinitely a better result than the first few and well worth the dogged persistence

Thanks all, appreciated.

It has been a while coming but I can now truthly say I putting this one to bed at least for the next couple of years.

My next target for those curious is NGC 6559 which is right next door to this area. It will be LRGB and no Ha for this target. I have imaged it in the past but want a much nicer image and one that is far deeper than I have gone before.
