Question on Sigma prime on a 40D(edit: instead new Canon coming)

Can a Sigma EF 24mm f2.8 Super Wide - 2 Canon EOS lens be used successfully on a Canon 40D ?????????

I understand that some functions may not work.

I need to be able to shoot at f2.8 and focus to infinity.

Also can I use it manually ?????

Can someone tell me if this is possible

Thanks

David

Yes Dennis we're hoping to do some nice Milky Way shots, and it seems the 24mm is pretty good for terrestrial as well
