Jupiter Dec 27 better seeing

Hi. have spent many fruitless hours over the past week or so looking for the comet and finding clouds, so it was a pleasure to encounter some better than average seeing just after dusk. This was the best of the session - am not totally happy with the processing, but there may be more to extract using the new version of WINJUPOS, so may re-post. Thanks for looking. Regards Ray

Hi, Ray.

I'm always impressed with your images. I've attempted quite a few times to image Jupiter, using my canon DSLR 1100D in video mode. It really makes me appreciate what you do.

Here's a couple of my efforts, in less than perfect seeing conditions.

Thanks,

Justin.

Not totally happy Ray, that tells me just how far imaging of this great planet has come in the last year. Thanks for the view, and all the best for 2012.

I am going to have to brush up on some processing when I get back into planetary imaging.

Hi Carl. Thanks for the comments. Yeah, Lovejoy has taken centre stage, but what a beautiful thing!

Thanks for the generous comment Justin. Looks to me like ordinary seeing was the main limitation with the images you posted. You got some top notch Lovejoy results with the 1100D - congrats.

Thanks Matt for the positive comments.

Thanks Lester. Yes, things have certainly come a long way recently with new cameras and software. All the best for the new year.

thanks Bob. yes it is getting harder to image, but will still be possible for a few more weeks.

thanks Troy

thanks Trevor. it almost comes a surprise when the seeing is OK - hope for better from here on.

Regards ray
