Sydney Fires

Thanks to the many of you who have contacted me with concerns about the recent Sydney fires that have impacted Sydney's southern suburbs.

Thankfully, apart from some smoke and ash, we were largely unaffected.

Last night however, events came close to disaster. Had the fire breached the RFS containment lines, and gone into the Woronora River valley, many homes would have been lost.

Here is a link to a all-sky timelapse I recorded last night showing how close it got!

Looks like quite a possible scare on skycam. Thankfully all OK at your end.

Best

Seems it was deliberately lit.

I for one would like to see arsonists handcuffed - hands and ankles to make sure - to a tree in the path of the next fire.

Another take on arsoinists

My take on arsonist is:- First charge of arson if
found guilty, penalty; whatever the law presently stipulates
but in addition one year working as an orderly in a hospital
burns unit. Here they would see the human misery burns inflict
, in particular what bush fires do.
People with permanently damaged lungs, ears and noses burn off
and much disfigurement. The emotional strain on the victims
and their families is immense. In one case I know off the
victim was in the unit for 18 months, this was too much for
his family which deserted him. These observations might do
some good to the perpetrator. There should be no such thing as a second charge of arson.
The second event should elicit a charge of attempted,
or actual, murder.

Good to hear it all went well Peter. You're not wrong about the firies work and all involved. It's a bloody miracle there was no loss of life and only minor damages to properties. They reckon the fire was lit behind all saints school in casula down the road from my place. The day was quite cool but extremely windy. I hope they catch them and that the punishment fits. Could have been a lot worse.
