Vixen SXP Autoguiding

Im having some trouble with my SXP when using PHD2. Initial calibration west and east is fine , clears backlash and then attempts north /south however the steps it takes are minuscule compared with west /east. If I increase the cal steps too much the west east fails because the star gets lost. So it works fine west east but no way can I get it to move enough in North South. Advice much appreciated and it would be great if any Vixen mount users could advise their setting also.

Cheers

Dave

One possibility is a bad electrical contact in your guide cable.

Yes tried two other cables Rick - no joy. I'm really thinking that I have done something dumb in the Starbook settings - I just cant figure out what

One up to you Rick. I eventually got the mount connected by Ethernet cable and lo all works without the ST4 interface. Just got to refine the process now to get usable guiding.

Good to hear that you got it sorted. If you tried different cables then the next place to look is at the ST4 port on the mount, might be a bad solder joint there. Auto guiding is great but can take a lot of tweaking to get it all going smoothly, but if it was too easy then there would be no challenge.
Cheers Rick
