Do you collect things.
Art, stamps or other items.
How long have you enjoyed your passion and do others judge you as normal or obsessive.
I like miniature porcelain peices totally useless but they appeal.
What do you collect.

I used to collect, but found all my collections did was collect dust, so I sold up (and made a VERY handsome profit).

Nowadays, I collect memories and knowledge. Very little intrinsically interests me much these days

As I get older I find that I collect bruises a lot more.
I also find my collection of memories seem to get less.
However, it seems that my collection of wrinkles increases by leaps and bounds, far exceeding my expectations or desire.

Apparently I collect Nikon lenses (according to my wife..... )

I collect false friends. However, I also get rid of them. (I sell them at garage sales after pouring wax on them.)

Just had a garage sale today,and surprisingly moved a good size amount of junkie stuff cluttering up shed space (and head space)

I use to collect stamps when I was young still have them
occasionally look at them , some probably have some modest value but such is the connection to to a long time ago I probably couldn't bring myself to sell them ,, often wonder when hording replaces 'collecting' must be a fine line there somewhere we all sail close to the wind with sometimes

My good wife started painting again some years back and I sometimes ask for one of her finished pieces , I think I have two or three now .

I have a collection of elephants ,small figures , much like the paintings is pretty random and not an ongoing obsession , though I just counted
the herd has swelled to eight in recent times .

Had built a considerable stamp collection as a kid...that was stolen when I was about 12.

Later in life I used to collect art glass - until several pieces were stolen. I had a fair idea who too, but could never prove it.

Realised I'm not a museum so consciously do not collect anything now.

I like to collect old books, love reading and them and thinking about the unknown people who owned and read them before me.

Have a nice little collection, of no monetry value but rich in history and stories. Much prefer an old book over new.

I collected guitars and had about 15 of them it became expensive just keeping good strings on them, so one by one I gave them away to various kids who showed promise. I still have two plus the three string cigar box guitar but I can still only play one at a time.

I have been taking in those shows on tv where they buy stuff and sell onto collectors..it blows me away some of the stuff people prize..old signs for example seem to be highly valued.

Agree Jo - the smell hooks me more than anything! Old Sci-Fi (Heinlein, Norton etc) just enthrall me - the cover art, the browning musty paper... LOVE it.

Used to collect military firearms and accoutrements. Down to a mere handful now, from 196 a few years back. Sold most, made close of $80K.

Also used to collect model aeroplanes (mostly) and some spacecraft models. When wife and I moved to Perth, sold those up, and got enough from the Buy Now on eBay to afford the trip over and rent for 2 years!! I had THOUSANDS of kits, ranging from ultra scarce (Frog, early Airfix, early Monogram and Revell etc) to VERY limited production.

I don't really consciously collect anything, but I tend to hold on to what I have, including 3 bicycles, several guitars, an unspecified quantity of black cameras, 3 vintage cameras, an early Kodak digital that cost a kings ransom. Of course like most on the forum I have a few telescopes and mounts.

HRH would say I also have a bit if a fetish for torches and watches.....

I seem to collect 'things that might be useful' in my workshop. Also probably tools, preferably power, a typical man obsession.

Although this weekends project proved how useful my 'collection' was when I found 4 tiny screws that fitted my coolbox build. Not that it reduced my 'collection' by much or justified the other umpteen kilos still cluttering up the place.

Still got my quite extensive childhood stamp collection, should look at selling that. I could put the $$ to far better use elsewhere.

I also 'collect' good red wines and single malt whiskies but those never seems to grow by much for some weird reason.... not sure why ...

I've been chopping back lately, selling off and the occasional gift.

I've got a small collection of LED flashlights, the trend has gone from brightest to lowest low (moonlight modes) with long runtime to CRI or high colour reproduction. I find I tend to only buy from small custom runs now.

I ordered another one of his Beta's last week.

I've been and done watches. Sold most. Funnily enough I have gone from lusting after high grade mechanical to high accuracy quartz now has my interest. Its cheaper thank goodness.

Scopes have me now though. Being able to use them for long periods and also the likely hood that you will never likely see everything out there that there is to see makes it a lifetime hobby.
