Shapley 1 now with more exposure

I imaged Shapley 1 a few months back but have been collecting more data on the OIII for the last few months when conditions were right. I have now collected another five hours so that integration is now up to 21.4 hours.

The outer halo is now more evident but would need more collection to produce sharp detail in the outer halo. This will not be possible as this is with the previous GSO truss Newtonian which has now been decommissioned. So it might have to wait until I have the AG12 commissioned to undertake the task of imaging it again at some point.

The star field in your image looks exactly the same as Don Goldman's or Joe Cauchi's, but the ESO La Silla version looks completely different. Wonder what the big fellows did wrong.

I guess they are not into making pretty pictures. At least it looks similar to some of the other ones around.

Hi Paul

I'm also working on this small object on my 6" GSO RC. I'm around a total of 12 hrs now on shapley 1. I can tell that this is rich in OIII by looking at my raw files. So hopefully after the next few clear nights I can process the data. But same as you, I need more OIII data.

I'm waiting to see on what it looks like once I have enough data.

I've worked it out now. Your image is far, far deeper. Consequently your nebulosity extends out much further, and covers or obscures a number of stars which are showing as way outside the nebula in the ESO image. Wasn't trying to play silly buggers, I just couldn't make the patterns match up. Now with fresh eyes, it's obvious. What the big fellows did wrong was to clip their data.
