PSA: Canon camera modification service

Just a quick PSA

I had a lengthy discussion with one of the service managers in Canon Australia - And they are please to note that, although not advertised or recommended. They can perform the modification service for the replacement of their standard IR cutoff filter. It is a BYO affair - so you will need to supply them with the replacement filter. E.G Baadar ACF.

Most of the service staff do not know of this service, nor are told as this service will carry 2 conditions

1- Any warranty will be void on the camera if this service was to take place.
2- their 6 month service warranty will also not apply.

As for the price - they will do this service for AUD 314 + GST - It is more expensive than say Peter Tan. But you have that assurance that a trained canon technician is working on your camera.

I will most likely get my camera done there as, funny enough, the service manager is interested to see my results

Maybe we can somehow convince Canon to release another Da product

Cheers
Rob

They are most probably doing it because of the 2 conditions.

I am sure Canon main company would have looked at this in the first place, I can't imagine them doing it officially. Hope this is not the case but!

I would recommedd Eric Style's service. He has done a lot of mods and they are first class.

Unlike a technician from Canon, he uses them.

UNFORTUNATELY HE IS NOT DOING THEM AT THE MOMENT _ MY APOLOGIES
