Using a Philips TouCam Pro II 840k

I just got the above camera and want to use it for astrophotography. My scope is a Bintel BT252, and I have a laptop that I will use in conjunction with the scope and cam.

I have two questions which I hope can be answered on here:

1) Should I be placing the cam against an eyepiece, or should it be placed "instead of" an eyepiece, in the focuser, when taking pix outside?

2) What's the best way to get the cam attached to the focuser? I seem to remember Mike advising how to do this in an earlier post, but I can't find it. I want to be able to get pix/vids without shaking the camera.

Can someone advise me on this?

Thx!

Shane - go to the following website and navigate to the webcam adapter page.

http://webcaddy.com.au/astro/adapter.asp

Get yourself a 1.25" adapter so that you can unscrew your ToUcam's lens and replace it with the adapter. Then use the camera like you would an eyepiece. Focus is something that comes with a bit of practice. You really need to know that your finder scope is accurate too.

Cheers
Chris

Hmm.. OK - here's the other one. He's hard to get hold of I've found, but this is what you'll need:

- 1.25" Threaded for Filters Anodised and Baffled Adaptor $55AUD or $39US$
Unscrew the ToUcam lens and replace with this adaptor for a 1.25" diameter focuser.

Shane, did you get the standard Toucam or the Long Exposure Modded version?

Anyone still using a Philips ToUCam Pro for astro imaging?

I'm getting re-started with mine (post Transit of Venus 2012) and find it's not compatible with more recent MS Op Systems. I think Windows 7 might be the last version compatible. If so, I'll download the software on an old laptop and see if it's accepted.

Output from the cam was simple to deal with, no complicated parameters to set up.
