Reaching for the Stars

An expired tree looking old and ancient photographed by the side of the road in the middle of the night. Maybe it is, but maybe it is also reaching out for the stars which have been there for millions of years whilst the tree has been hanging on for a mere hundred years or so. Kind of puts it all into context I think.

I've had my eye on this tree for some time as a good foreground object for a nightscape image and took the opportunity on a recent clear night. Image processed from a single frame, Canon 60Da, ISO1600, 20s. Samyang 14mm F2.8 lens stopped down to F4.0.
