Equipment insurance

So tell me people, what are we all doing to insure our gear? Especially those with permanent observatories and a permanent setup.

Do you have special cover or just extended your contents cover to the value of your gear?
If you've just extended cover then will your insurer cover a loss if it is housed in what most of us would class as a shed with a removable roof......doesn't sound overly secure does it!

I have key bits of kit listed seperately under home and contents given replacement costs. Make a list, ring up the insurers and watch them try and work out how to categorise it.

Thanks david. Im still waiting to hear back from my insurer. They're struggling to make a decision on whether stuff is covered because it's 'stored' in what they deem a shed.
