Clouded out so recooked this image from seven yrs ago.
45x35secs ISO 1600 8" Newt. Unguided, no darks, flats, biases etc:
Stacked and "processed" in DSS only.

Nice colour and contrast Raymo, well reprocessed, I imagine it's an improvement on your first attempt 7 yrs ago. Good to still have data to play with captured from the scope you used to own, hope the person who bought it off you enjoys it as much as you did.

Thanks Ben, the original was way too black clipped, so lost some nebulosity,
and I played more with the sliders in DSS to prevent the core from blowing
out.
Thanks Michael, there was nothing wrong with the gear I sold, so yes I
hope it works well for him.
The 5x24mm finder I got for my nano tracker was totally useless, so I'm waiting for an 8x50mm to arrive, hopefully Monday. Off for five weeks in
Bali and Singas shortly, will take the nano with me, see if I can find somewhere really dark.

nice one Raymo..i have just made an attempt but it does not come close to yours.
I will play with more and see if I can do better but I am not hopeful.
Great effort.

Amazing pic Raymo, particularly with only DSS to bring out your work! I seem to jump around with various imaging software to find the best result but here you've demonstrated with even the most modest program you can produce an excellent result!

Well done

Thank you everybody, its a bit galling at times being stuck at the bottom
of the AP ladder, but I came into digital imaging a bit late in life, and found
guiding, and using RAWs, and converting files, and trying to master Photoshop etc just too much for my addled brain, so stuck with JPEGS and in camera noise reduction, which of course halves my imaging time. Had to dump my
HEQ5 and Newt [too heavy to keep setting up].

Alex, you're coming on like a house on fire, stick with it.
