In a single word yes, it doesn't even need to be a high spec computer. You do need enough separate usb ports though, a usb hub can get get congested.

Like Rick said yes but be careful about USB like for like compatibility and some Astro software doesn’t like working through a hub , even a good quality powered hub
My BYEOS won’t connect through a powered hub but works perfectly connected direct to my laptop port
I have the following on my laptop working concurrently
EQMOD
Stellarium Scope
Stellarium
BYEOS
PHD2
Try and use a laptop with 4 USB ports , mine has only 3 and it’s a pain as my mouse is connected to the hub and it plays up from time to time
Good luck
Cheers

No problem. I've always used smallish laptops to guide and capture images. The one I'm using now is a small HP pavillion. Reguarding USB all you need to do it move all your USB connections at the scope side. The only thing I run off the laptop is my mouse and one daisy chain of 2x5m active USB extensions (Lindy). That's it. On the other end I have a mount hub pro with all the connections, USB, serial, power.

Hi Marc
Can you advise the brand and model no of your USB hub ? Is it powered ?
I use an MBeat 7 port powered USB hub and BYEOS and PHD2 won’t run off it , I have to connect them direct to my laptop , even my mouse plays up running off the hub. My HP Omen laptop has only 3 USB ports which are connected to the MBeat hub , BYEOS and PHD2. EQMOD and my mouse are connected to the hub that’s all
The MBeat hub was recommended by various IIS members a while ago
Any suggestions / advice welcome
Thanks

Martin, are you connecting your Mbeat hub to a USB 3.0 or a USB 2.0 port on your laptop?
It is a USB 3.0 hub and I don't think it will run well if connected to USB 2.0 port on the computer.

Yes I’m aware of USB compatibility
The MBeat hub has both USB2 and USB3 ports and my laptop has USB3 ports
I’ve tried both and the mouse still has issues
Maybe it’s Windows 10 giving the mouse low priority when everything’s running as the mouse works perfectly during the day when I’m just processing with one application open and plugged directly into the laptop no hub
At night when I’m imaging I have 4 applications running concurrently with mouse plugged into the hub
I need a computer nerd / wizz to nut this one out
I’m definitely not a computer wizz
Cheers

Yes 12VDC powered. I use a much older version of these: https://www.hitecastro.co.uk/index.php/products
The active USB extenders you can get from www.lindy.com.au.
