Bretti 2018

Putting this out there for those interested in attending Bretti during 2018, a thread to propose and organise trips to Bretti.
I know interest has lagged badly in 2017, but the darkness (21.8 + on the SQM) is still there.

The February New Moon, is on Friday the 16th, making a nice long weekend, conditions permitting. With school holidays over the place would be quiet and dark once again.

I can attend, but would prefer some company.

After a year to forget in 2017 I am planning on doing a few trips to Bretti this year. Maybe March or April when the weather cools down and would be more comfortable up there. Need a fix and shake cobwebs off scope. Been too long Glen.

I'm up for it

I'm keen to go out, would be just Friday and Saturday nights though. Make my way up Friday morning and leave Sunday mid-day.

All contingent on weather of course, not keen to deal with any wet ground, at all.

I'm tentatively very very very interested.

Like Geoff, I need a break to sort out my marbles too.

Bretti could be the escape that I need.

Let's wait for the weather outlook closer to the New Moon. Right now rhe extended forecast for 13-16th does not look good, but things do change.

No change to the negative outlook for later this week, at this point, on either CFN or Accuweather.

Or BOM. The forecast actually looks to go further downhill as the week progresses.

I'll hold out for another day though, before pulling the pin altogether.

I won't be going based on the available forecast. I think Kevin is of the same opinion based on discussions we had about CFN. I am refocusing on March.

No problem Glen. I think I'm in the same boat then.

Friday and Saturday look ok at the Pony Club. I may just head up there.

Hate to rub it in but it was brilliant last night at coolah.
Great seeing. No clouds.
As well as low humidity and cooled off nicely after dark.
Tonight promises as well.
Well worth the extra hour drive.

That is great for you Allan, thanks for not rubbing it in....

I was not invited to Coolah this month, and as it is a private property, would not feel right just rocking up. I can't speak for the others.

Glen, you just need to find the special rock with the key under it!

Sounds great, Allan. How is everything shaping up, out there?

We had many nice sights in the eyepieces last night, including the Horsehead Nebula which seemed to pop out quite clearly given the good conditions. Surprising given we were using a 10” dob and 120mm binoscope. I could have shown Al the Horsehead in the 32”, but that’s no challenge.

Yeah, it really is a wonderful location out there.

Your car and wide research really paid handsome dividends, Allan.

So much in the sky just stands out so boldly.
