Crux star cloud

22 July. Got up in early hours to capture this single exposure image of the star cloud around Crux (marked in orange). 10 sec at 1600 iso with Canon 1200d modified camera. Nice cold morning. Thanks for viewing.

You made a good job of it, but why on earth would you use a
modded camera to shoot star clouds?

Crux star cloud

Rely to Raymo ... I've just got this camera and have been experimenting with it.
It seems to pull out more detail than my non-modded camera. Thanks for comments re colour, perhaps others can add comments. Cheers JW.

Nice one John. Just a little overall magenta to me also. Modded cameras often do this and need manual white balance to compensate.

I have to disagree with Ray on this one. Modified cameras are excellent for star fields as they pick up much more Ha nebula, as your running chicken (IC2944) stands out well. Modified cameras are also a tad faster than standard.
