Nikon D200

It looks like Nikon are going to announce a new Digital SLR in the next few weeks. Hopefully they will be available in Australia in the not too distant future for a good price.

Rumors suggest the features will be :
-10.2 Megapixels
-5 Frames per Second
-2.5" LCD screen
-16x24mm CCD sensor
-11 Area Multi-CAM AF system
-1,005 pixel 3D matrix metering II
-Magnesium Alloy Body
-Shutter rated for 100,000 shots
-EN-EL3e battery for 1800 images per charge
-US$1,699.95 (AU$2270)

See http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/d200.htm for more info.

I like the sound of it so far (depending on how accurate the rumors are) and could very well end up buying one.

The rumors were all correct. Nikon have announced the D200 will be available in late December for US$1699.95 - I know what I'll be getting myself for Christmas .

Another feature it has that may be useful for astrophoto's is mirror lock-up.
Nikon also announced a new lens, 18 - 200 mm IF-ED AFS-VR f/3.5 - 5.6G, I wouldn't buy one of these for astrophography, but it looks interesting.
