Yep, definitely Carina season. My go at this object with my new rig capturing Ha, OIII and SII for a narrowband presentation. Data acquisition with SGP Pro and image processing in Pixinsight.
I'm pleased with the low noise levels in the data from the ASI6200 camera and I've only had to apply minimal noise reduction. The wider field with the full frame sensor and short focal length allows for the capture of most of this grand object in a single frame. I've also prepared a starless version for those that like the starless presentation (I think that it works well on this one actually ).
Now that is absolutely stunning. Really incredible work there, Rodney!

Thanks Adam. Why choose 20 minute subs? I guess for several reasons. Coming from CCD to CMOS with the ASI6200 I'm used to taking longer exposures when capturing narrowband data. The ASI6200 has a quite reasonable well depth so even bright objects like NGC3372 won't saturate in narrowband with this sub length. This allows for the capturing of some of the more faint areas of the nebula along with the brighter core. Having said that, I did have to dial down the brightness of the core in post processing to keep the dynamic range under wraps.

Many thanks lads. The colour palette did work out well even though this can be subjective. The stars came through ok in the final image but the individual subs do show a bit of elongation in one corner. However, by the time we go through calibration, registration, integration and then channel combination they tend to get beaten into shape somewhat . I'm a little hesitant to fiddle with it now. Might need another image or three to be sure

Thanks Mike, I'm happy with the way that I've got this rig going now. I can move on now to see what other expanses of the universe can be captured with my new camera
I find that this gives me a good starting point and avoids a lot of the green cast from the standard SHO palette. I also adjust the hue some using the curves tool to push the colours towards a final rendition that appeals to my eye whilst maintaining a distinction between the various emission lines.
Wonderful colours and Tak sharp (pun intended)I have to work more on my 6RC's collimation. Or save $$$ for a Tak APO
