Turtle Ninja Eta

Managed to get ~4h of Oiii on Eta last night and combined it with some Ha and Sii I had done last year and the year before. I've lost the original raw files but found some full res TIFF files and was able to do some basic pixel math in CCD Stack although I can't get the whole dynamic range back. Registered the Oiii in MBJ's excellent Prometheus and did the noise reduction in Startools and final in PS.

Full field here [6.19MB]

Interesting crop here [1.96MB]

and 1:1 close up here [1.22MB]

Enjoy the green.

I like the drama of the full field rendition

Some quibbles about the magenta star halos...but a nice ninja version just the same

Well done FSQ! The outer fields have come up especially nicely. I think it looks even better - more contrasty - if the black point is adjusted a bit. Lovely!

Best,
Mike

Apart from the green and the fairly standard framing...it's quite noice with some great details and I don't mind the halos, when they are not obtrusive like here, they actually stay true to the classic HST narrow band wavelength ordering results, so looks ok to me

I like the variation in colours and the detail, Marc Not a fan of magenta stars but I can live with them Overall a very tasty Eta.

Cheers,
Rick.

Thanks Mike. Yeah I got a little paranoid with clipping during the colour combine because I have half FITS and half TIFFs but you're right. I could maybe shave a little on the black point.

Thanks Mike. I did a straight color combine 1:1:1 and that's what came up. I did a few versions (blue/orange/brown with white stars, etc...) but in the end I like this one. It has the right light, star profiles and details.

That's certainly a very good Eta Marc with great detail. I would wind back the green though but it is of course entirely up to you how you want it to look.

Thanks Andrew. That's what happens when you process while looking at your screen through a red glass of port.
Now you mention it, it looks better when I have my reading glasses on.
