WO flat 2 reducer & vignetting?

Hi All, I noticed that the shots I've taken with my York Optical 80ED and the WO Flat 2 0.8x reducer have quite pronounced vignetting in the corners of the image. Is this normal or is it a function of where the camera's focal plane is in distance from the reducer. The reducer has a camera adaptor thread so I have it going straight to camera... maybe 30-40mm distance between glass and focal plane? Ideas?

regards,

Rob

Rob, have a look at this Equipment Review on FR for refractors. But the short of it is that yes it is normal, but the good news is that most of it can be dealt with by good flats.

Hi Robert,

Here is one more link with tests made with a refractor and two William Optics 0.8x Reducers / Flatteners (v2 and v3) and a Baader MPCC. It's written by Craig -an author of Nebulosity.

cheers,

Mike
