First Mercury Transit not visible since 1969 in Aus

I notice the May 9th Transit is not visible in Australia.

It makes me realise what a wonderful streak we have had since I started observing since 1968, as every previous Mercury Transits + the two Venus transits were visible. (OK, we did not see the exit of Venus in 2004).

Overall though, we have really been having a great run with Transits. Anybody know of any reason for this other than just luck?

And the next one (11 Nov 2019) AU will be unlucky as well :-(
The 2032 and 2039 events will be partially visible and still ongoing at sunset, maybe in WA, the 2039 event is almost completely visible.
And 2049 again ... boo !

But here in the EU we have luck, after three invisible events 1986,1993,1999 we saw the 2003 transit and the 9 May transit we will see entirely if clouds are not interfering.

Buy a ticket to Europe or South Africa for next 9 May if you really want to see it.
