Zooniverse - great learning tool

It was only the other day I discovered Zooniverse, talk about living under a rock.

Anyway, I started doing galaxy classification at 'Galaxy Zoo'.

After only a few hours training, and several hundred galaxies later, I can now classify most of the different types.

And some of them are absolutely fascinating.

This skill came into play evaluating my own images, and straight away I found something interesting.

I guess it's a case if you know what to look for.

So I would highly recommend the amateur to have a go.

Every now and then, you come across a gem.

These images are generated by a 'robot' and need further classification by humans!

I am not sure how many humans have seen each image, but it is not many...

Edit: Turns out, this could be a 'simulated' or 'enhanced' image done by a super computer.

And wait, there's more.

Catalina Outer Solar System Survey.

Want to be the one to discover another planet (large rock) in our Solar System?

A super computer shortlists what it perceives to be a moving object.

It is ultimately up to a human to decide, and that is where volunteers come in.

Fascinating stuff!
